Meet The Maker - Sal Remedia

I LOVE the brands I'm working with, I've designed this 'meet the maker' series to introduce you to these brands so you can get to know them as well as I do. This week I'm introducing you to Liz from Sal Remedia.  HOW DID YOUR HEALTH AND WELLNESS JOURNEY BEGIN? My journey began when the symptoms of my pregnancy became too much to bear, not just physically but mentally as well. I was constantly in and out of maternity checking my blood pressure as I was experiencing common signs of pre-eclampsia. Luckily it never developed that far but the pain and discomfort was there from the second trimester up until my daughters birth. My weight was gaining at a rapid...

The Low Tox Fox Shop

I’m so super excited about what this year holds for me, I’ve never really been one to have New Years resolutions but I’m excited about 2017. I’ve been happy to see the the back end of the last couple of years with all the heath issues I’ve had. It was nearly 12 months to the day between when I had my first surgery and when I had my fourth and final surgery so I was super happy to see the end of that. I’m continuing to work on my wellness, I’m still not 100% but thanks to my beautiful naturopath I’m getting there. My restricted diet has actually been a lot easier than I thought it would be and I’m...

How to Avoid Greenwashing

I’ll be honest, I don’t have the best filter. I’m sure there’s been many times when my husband has been sitting next to me at parties cringing at my ‘say it how it is’ outbursts. I absolutely don’t mean to offend, I just don’t like beating around the bush and on that same train of thought I don’t like speaking behind someone’s back. Having said all that I’m probably not a great person to invite to a ‘selling’ party. Even those companies like Arbonne and Jamberry, I don’t believe they are as non-toxic as they claim and I say it. Recently I was invited to an online Jamberry party and the first thing I did was ask ‘do these contain...

What To Eat When You Can’t Eat a Thing

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you’ll know this already but I recently did some food sensitivity testing and it turns out I’m sensitive to a lot of food! I knew something wasn’t sitting well as I’ve had tummy troubles but I had no idea it was a lot of the foods I eat regularly, no wonder I wasn’t feeling the best! My results are unusual and it’s not too surprising given the fact I had 4 bowel surgeries over the course of 12 months and LOTS of antibiotics. On one hand it’s a bit annoying and on the other I’m really excited because I have the opportunity to make myself feel a lot better. I can control...

Synthetic Fragrance - Why I Avoid It

When you start looking around you realise fake fragrance is everywhere, perfume, deodorant, body wash, moisturiser, fabric softener, scented candles, air fresheners, the list goes on. Fake fragrance often contains phthalates which are plasticiser’s used in soft squishy toys like rubber ducks as well as rain coats and vinyl flooring. It’s used in fake fragrance as it makes the scent stick to surfaces, and if you’re wearing perfume that means its coating your skin, yikes! They’re also used in nail polish and hairspray to hold but still be flexible. The Centers for Disease Control states “some types of phthalates have affected the reproductive system of laboratory animals. More research is needed to assess the human health effects of exposure to phthalates“. I’d...
